Mid Scotland and Fife is one of 8 regions created to allow for the proportionality for the PR system for electing the regional list members for the Scottish Parliament.
 
   
A huge regional constituency Mid Scotland & Fife stretches from Brechin, Dundee and St Andrews in the East to Dunfermline and Stirling in the South to Tyndrum and Crianlarich in the West and North to beyond Pitlochry. It covers a vast area and is a mixture of urban and rural populations.
